HOTEL REVIEW: CIRCUS CIRCUS

After two nights + one free one at The Palms (best place to stay while at the AT&T Development Summit), we moved to Circus Circus where I was able to get very cheap rooms. When CES is on in Vegas the prices double, so even a price of $80 per room per night was ‘expensive’ for this place. That Circus Circus was supposed to be within walking distance from the convention center (not the case) made me feel that this was a great deal!

Nils had informed me about the hotel and told me that I have to be prepared for a very different standard, and the taxi drivers warning when he took us from Palms Place to Circus Circus which he thought was “the worst place in town” did not make me feel more comfortable. It’s amazing how quickly one can adjust to standards higher than you normally have, and how difficult it is to move the other way....

As I check around that is confirmed by others and I realize it will be difficult to move from a nice Palms Place to Circus Circus. When we get in the cab at Palms with all our luggage the cab driver assumes we are going to the airport, when we tell him we are going to Circus Circus he doesn't believe us at first. Nobody leaves a place like the palms to move to Circus Circus, well we did!

Yes, I have to admit the place has seen better days, its a little run down, no fancy restaurants, bars, boutiques or stores, but I didn't think it was that bad. The rooms where decent size, lots of activities for kids, with water park etc. and an interesting theme altogether. Also as a start-up we always look for good deals, if that means sometimes staying at less attractive places so be it!

That being said I don't think I will stay there next time I come to Vegas :). Might take my kids for a visit to the tivoli though...

We paid:     $ 80 per night
Rating:        2/ 6
