Las Vegas baby!

My first time in Vegas.... Wow! Don’t know how I feel really, except that I’ve never seen a place quite like this. Five words; Casinos, limousines, brides, lights and coffee (alternatively Red Bull)...

A little jetlagged and tired from the previous day (and night) attendance at AT&T’s developer conference we head down to the CES show for the first of many interesting meetings. The next few hours and days consist of meetings at Starbucks at the conference center and taxi’s back at forth to various hotels to meet executives from some of the world leading mobile operators, handset manufacturers and retailers.

It’s all very hectic, fast paced, but also exciting and interesting. As a matter of fact, we are so busy the first few days that we don’t have time to go into the conference center and look at the various exhibits before Saturday! We make some great and valuable connections and I also get introduced to Are Traasdahl, founder and Chairman of Thumbplay, US’s largest mobile content destination and I quickly realize that he is a guy I would like to get involved in Bipper.

We also spend some quality time with another Norwegian, Øystein Samøen who heads up Barnevakten and Kids and Media, a great initiative that I admire and Bipper is proud to be part of.

Besides Starbucks, hotel lobbies and scenery as viewed from the taxi windows we don’t get to see much of Las Vegas. Nils ‘forced’ us to run through a couple of hotels just to see what everyone is talking about; The Venitian and the Bellagio. I love both little Venice and the water fountain!

A few things you quickly will notice about Las Vegas as a first time visitor:

  1. (1)Casinos - everywhere!
  2. (2)Limousines - everywhere!
  3. (3)Brides - everywhere!
  4. (4)Lights - everywhere! Wonder what the electricity bill of this city is like...
  5. (5)Amazing buildings. Crazy buildings

And three pieces of advice for those of you traveling to Vegas:

  1. (1)Set a maximum limit of how much you are allowed to gamble. You will thank me!
  2. (2)Have Clear Eyes available (you won’t get much sleep!)
  3. (3)And always make sure you know where to get coffee - quick!
The first thing you see when you arrive in Vegas is a Casino.
Even the airport is a huge casino, and in any hotel
you walk into a casino floor will welcome you

The other thing you will notice in Vegas (except for a huge amount
of girls with very little clothes on) are the limos. Tons of limos.
My first limo ride ever happened in Vegas - to the airport as the airport
van was full. My crappy hotel (and I really do mean crappy -
the worst one in town apparently) arranged for a limo for us instead.

    Amazing buildings everywhere.
Notice the roller-coaster running around the building

    And notice the lights!
I have never ever seen as many lights as I did in Vegas....

Neither have I seen as many brides....

Coffee, sunglasses and Clear Eyes are must haves!
